WEAPON
Dimitri is voiced by the lovable and amazing Chris Hackney. Dimitri's voice is usually very kind and proper, showing off those manners that he has learned from his years as a prince. But when he is reminded of those he has lost and those he may lose in the future, his voice drops into something darker.
STYLE
Dimitri can usually be found wearing the Officer Academy uniform with a sword by his side. He doesn't actually use swords so it's mostly just something as decoration. The most notable thing about Dimitri's uniform is the blue cape that marks him as the Blue Lions' house leader. Dimitri is not seen in anything but his uniform and battle armor though, since he is a noble, it can be inferred that he wears things that are a lot more fancier. The color blue is a definite constant for his wardrobe.
ETC.
Dimitri has lost his sense of taste thanks to the trauma that he witnessed from the Tragedy of Duscar. Therefore, Dimitri doesn't have any particular dishes that he likes or dislikes since he can't really taste him. He does like chamomile tea since the smell calms him down. Dimitri is also known for his odd amount of strength, often breaking things like training equipment by complete accident.

CHARM

• APPEARANCE •
Dimitri is the crown prince of the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus and looks very much the part. His appearance matches that of his father, King Lambert, with the matching blonde hair and blue eyes. Dimitri has a strong build for a student his age thanks to the fact that he began training and fighting at a very young age. If someone were to look under his clothing, they would find his body full of scars from battle. He stands tall at 5 feet and 9 inches and is growing practically every day. The clothing he wears is the uniform of the Officer's Academy with a blue cape which shows off his position as the Blue Lions' House Leader. His weapon of choice is a lance though he does keep a sword at his side.
After the timeskip, Dimitri's hair grows to shoulder length and he replaces his school uniform for black battle armor. The armor has a blue cape attached to it with the edges made of fur. He grows to 6 feet and 2 inches and gains some dark circles under his eyes thanks to his sleepless nights. He had been injured sometime during the five years away from the monastery and wears an eyepatch though the wound has healed.
• PERSONALITY •
"He seems quite sincere... But I sense darkness lurking beneath." That is what Byleth thinks of Dimitri when they first meet. Outwardly, Dimitri shows that he is a prince through and through. He is polite to those around him and awfully humble. During his supports with Ashe, he often tells the other that he does not have to be so stiff around him. When he is with people he considers friends, he wishes to be treated as an equal and not as a prince. This can also be seen when drinking more expensive tea, he will tell the Professor that perhaps it would be best to give it to someone else. He takes his friendships with others quite seriously and cherishes them greatly. This can be seen with Dedue who he saved during the Tragedy of Duscur. The two are quite close and he wishes the other to be comfortable around him along with those at the academy. He can be a bit clumsy when it comes to his strength and is known to break things like training equipment with ease. He will also apologize to others when he can't get something right, like when he is with Mercedes and she is attempting to teach him how to sew.
He shows respect to those he may clash with as well. With his old friend Felix, the other constantly calls him out on his darker behavior that he shows during battle. He does not insult the other back but instead takes what he is saying to heart. There is also his interactions with Sylvain where he eventually grows a begrudging respect after he witnesses just how hard he has it with women. Dimitri spends some of free time helping out others. In his support with Byleth, he tells them about how he has been teaching some of the children swordsmanship but he just needs assistance with it. He also has a very odd sense of humor. With Alois, he tends to laugh at the other's jokes the most when they are usually met with silence with others. Terrible jokes are the best kind of jokes to laugh at according to Dimitri.
When it comes to romance, Dimitri isn't the best at it. His awkward attempts at romance date all the way back to when he was a child and had a bit of a crush on Edelgard. Before they parted, he gifted her with a dagger but never did confess his feelings for her. It's a crush that he eventually did grow out of but he never does tell Edelgard that he is that boy who gave her the dagger. He still shows signs of caring for her though until the eventual reveal. There is also the scene of Dimitri with the Professor at the Goddess Tower. Throughout the game, Dimitri begins developing just a little bit of a crush on Female Byleth. He compliments her skills and even her smile, calling it "mesmerizing." On the Goddess Tower, despite not believing in things like legends, he wishes for him and Byleth to be together forever before quickly playing it off as a joke when he is met with silence. And then there's his support with Sylvain where he is troubled by his date with a girl.
But there is a darkness that lurks beneath his kind exterior, just as Byleth says. Dimitri is the survivor of the Tragedy of Duscur and, from it, comes his survivor's guilt and ageusia. There are times when Dimitri is in the presence of events that involve the slaughtering of innocent people, he tends to get headaches and goes into a darker state of mind. Like Felix says, Dimitri becomes like a boar. He will want those responsible killed without any hesitation and as violently as possible. This kind of behavior is referenced by Felix during their support when he recalls when Dimitri suppressed a rebellion by killing everyone he could some time after the Tragedy of Duscur. Dimitri does not deny this side of him does not exist but it doesn't mean he likes it. He even says to Byleth that he couldn't trust someone who kills without remorse. It is because of his trauma that he goes back to his state of mind during the slaughter that he witnessed.
He tends to mirror his suffering onto others at times as well. When Jeralt is killed, he comes to Byleth to comfort them but to also tell them that he wants to help them get vengeance on those who killed Jeralt. It is because he lost his own father in front of his own eyes as well that he relates to Byleth so much during this scene. He is also a bit of an unreliable narrator. The voices that he hears are of those who have died. They often tell him to kill and get revenge for them but accounts from other characters describe the people who have died to have been noble and kind. He also does not listen to reason when it comes to bringing justice for the ones he's lost. Despite the Flame Emperor saying they are not allied with Solon, he does not believe it for a second but he does believe that they are responsible for the death of his father. After this event, he does not get much sleep at night and instead chooses to sneak out to train.
And then there's the reveal that the Flame Emperor is actually Edelgard herself. Dimitri's mind breaks for good at this point and it is when he reveals that savage nature for everyone to see. He cuts through plenty of guards just to try and get his hands on Edelgard. The only family he had left, the girl he thought of fondly...she was the one responsible for the thing that brought him all of the suffering in his life. "Is this some kind of twisted joke?" Dimitri asks. Because that's what it feels like in the end.
And as Edelgard escapes and declares war on the monastery, Dimitri is determined to have her head and hang it from the gates of Enbarr which completes his transformation of wholesome prince to bloodthirsty boar.
• HISTORY •
Dimitri was born in Imperial Year 1162 as the eldest son of King Lambert; his mother, the queen consort, perished in a plague that was later cured by Cornelia. He befriended Edelgard during her exile and she taught him how to dance. Dimitri gave her a dagger as a token of affection before she returned to the Adrestian Empire in 1174. Dimitri was the only surviving royal of the Tragedy of Duscur in 1176. His uncle and Lambert's elder brother, Grand Duke Rufus of Itha, ruled as regent in Dimitri's stead. During the Kingdom's retaliatory subjugation of Duscur, he saved and befriended Dedue who became his vassal. He fought his maiden battle two years later, where he distinguished himself as a commander in quelling a rebellion in western Faerghus. Byleth chooses to instruct the Blue Lions house, helping Dimitri grow into a capable leader. During the night of the Academy Ball, the Blue Lions vow to reunite in five years for the Millennium Festival. Dimitri agrees to the reunion and hopes that everyone can make it. However, hostile encounters with the Flame Emperor and Those Who Slither in the Dark drive Dimitri to become more ruthless. After the Ball, he confides to Byleth that Edelgard is his stepsister and that he gave her a dagger as a gift during their childhood. Dimitri suddenly hears voices and sees the Flame Emperor conversing with Thales. Believing that the Flame Emperor was responsible for the Tragedy of Duscur, he confronts them. The Flame Emperor denies involvement and vanishes, leaving behind a dagger which Dimitri recognizes.
After Byleth merges with Sothis, Rhea instructs them to descend into the Holy Tomb and claim their power from the throne. The Flame Emperor interferes, seeking to raid the tomb of its Crest Stones, which leads to a skirmish. With most of the Emperor's forces dispatched, Dimitri unmasks their leader. To his shock and dismay, his suspicion that the Flame Emperor is Edelgard is confirmed. Outraged over her perceived involvement in his family's death, Dimitri snaps and slaughters her remaining forces. She is forced to retreat, but not before Dimitri vows to make Edelgard suffer for her crimes and kill her.
Edelgard ascends the Adrestian Empire's throne, deposing Ionius IX and declaring war on the Church of Seiros. Dimitri fights beside Claude in the front lines to protect the Monastery from invasion.
